The Digital Addressable
Lighting Interface (DALI) protocol, has been hailed as providing the ultimate in
flexibility in control of fluorescent lighting systems.
If you are new to DALI,
you should know that it is not a product. Instead, it is a standard protocol,
already adopted by a number of manufacturers in Europe and Asia, defining how
ballasts have to perform.
With DALI, dimming --
which was traditionally restricted to architectural lighting, daylight
harvesting and conference rooms -- can now be deployed across the entire
facility to achieve high energy savings (30-60% including ballast-lamp
efficiency) as well as extraordinary flexibility, user control and maintenance
benefits.
